MIU MIU Spring 2012

“I designed it in fifteen days, right after Prada,” declared Miuccia Pradareferring to her improvised collection for Miu Miu Spring 2012. Inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s Le Sacre du Printemps, the collection managed to allude to many trends set forth by the shows prior, including colours, a clean silhouette and feminine lace.

The show was the last to take place in the last of the fashion week cities, but the collection suggested anything but boredom. What Miu Miu offered was a collection rich in patchwork colors, folk-art patterns and plenty of whimsy.

There was something eerily red-riding hood about the printed off shoulder capes, matched with cropped bra tops and delicate A-line lace skirts – but an eerie we definitely like. If this was the product of an improvised show then perhaps all designers could do with a little bit of spontaneity.
